What better way to spend some quality time with our family than gathering around in a lounge or living room and doing activities together, be it watching movies, playing board games, or just winding down and talking about our days. That’s why it’s so important to make our living room comfortable and cozy.
There’s a lot of things that can be done to make the environment cozy, be it a comfy sofa, regulating the temperature, using some aromatherapy, or choosing the right lighting to set up the mood. Here are some lighting tips to make your living space more comfortable.
- If you have a warm interior finish tone, try to use a warmer lighting tone. By using a warmer lighting tone, like 2700K-3500K, people will feel a warm, inviting feeling (homey) and will feel more comfortable.
- Try to incorporate more ambient lighting in the room. Ambient lighting will give a more diffused lighting effect, hence giving a sense of serene, and warm and creating a peaceful atmosphere in the room. Some examples of ambient lighting you can include are pendant lights, wall lights, or even cove lighting.
- Set the mood by using lighting control. Nowadays, lighting control is fairly easy to get and to control using your smart mobile devices. You can set the lighting to be different for some activities you’ll do in the room. For watching movies, you can dim down or even turn off some of the general lights, but when you’re playing board games you can make the lighting brighter. These are just some of the examples of what you can do with your lighting, with creativity you can do so much more with your lighting.
- Use lighting fixtures as elements for interior design. Lighting fixtures can also be used as a decoration piece in addition to lighting. There are many different types and shapes of lighting fixtures; from pendant lights, floor lights, to table lights that you can use not only to light up the space, but also to enhance your room’s visual.
With good lighting design, your living space will be even more comfortable than ever before. Especially during the times we have to spend more time in our house, all the more reason to make our living space cozier.
